This is  Vol. V,  Travels in South-West England and Western India, with a Diary of Events in London, 1658-1663, and in Penryn, 1664-1667 (London, Hakluyt Society, 1936).  1st edn, 8vo, 226 pp, 3 plates, 11 illus,  a map of the Malabar Coast, appendix, bibliography, index,  and a review from The Times (19 July 1937) laid in.  This volume covers his life in Cornwall just after the Civil War (pp. 1-15);  his third voyage to India (pp. 25-92);  and life in London during the last years of  the Protectorate and the first years of the Restoration 1657-1667 (pp. 93-182).  Includes six pages on Johanna, Comoros (pp. 39-45).   $50

There are five engraved plates and five textual illus, all included.   Four charts were to accompany this text:  the chart of Mombas is complete but repaired;  the charts of Delagoa Bay, Mozambique, and the Cape of Good Hope are missing.  All of volume one and half of volume two are set in the Indian Ocean with great detail on the entire East African coast from Somalia to the Cape, and also including Madagascar, Seychelles, Muscat.    $475

38.           PROSI Magazine (Port Louis, Mauritius).  This was a monthly magazine published by the Public Relations Office of the Sugar Industry.  While published,  PROSI was the leading journal covering  the Mauritian economy.

1986: July-Dec, nos. 210-215; 1987-1990, nos. 216-263 complete; 1991: Jan., June, nos. 264, 269; 1993: July-December, nos. 293-299; 1994-2000, complete, nos. 300-383, except for no. 334 (Nov. 1996); 2001: Jan.-Oct., nos. 372-383.  In the 1980s each issue was usually  about 40  b/w pages;  in the 1990s it became folio size, each issue 60-80 pp, with much color.  A total of 154 issues.  $400

88.           (Grande Comore).  Two views on a single sheet from Magasin Pittoresque (Paris, 1850s). :  Vue de Moroni (5 ¼ x 4 inches), and Un Boutre, batiment des habitants de la Grande-Comore (6 x 2 ½ inches). Both drawn by Lebreton.   The view of Moroni is particularly fine with the view looking out from the harbor with people, flora,  and boats in the foreground and a large ship and a smaller dhow beyond. $40

91.           Procession of the British Envoys to Madagascar from the Seashore to the Fort of Tamatave to Dine with the Governor of Tamatave, from The Illustrated London News (Nov. 8, 1862).  There are four etchings on the page,  each 9 ½ x 3 ½ inches.  The drawings include the advanced guards,  the band, officers, a native of rank borne by slaves, and several named individuals:  Mr. Andronisa, Mr. Marks, Lieut. Oliver, Capt. Anson, Dr. Ryan, Bishop of Mauritius, and Major-General Johnstone in a palankeen.  Dr. Ryan is the author of Mauritius and Madagascar (London, 1864).  The full page is 14 ½ x 9 ½, b/w.   $40

99.           (Seychelles).  An Indian Slaves Autobiography:   Facsimiles of a Series of Sketches made by “Billy King,” a Liberated Slave to Illustrate his Capture, Captivity, and Liberation by an English Man-of War, from The Graphic (November 25, 1893).  There are six remarkable drawings, each with accompanying text:  An Arab Raid and Capture; March to the Coast; Tied up for the Night; Embarking on a Slave Dhow; Pursued by a British Man-of-War; and Burning the Dhow after Rescuing the Slaves.  The drawings were submitted by  a large employer of labour in the colony of Mahe, Seychelles” where the freed slaves were taken.  $75
